10 folk remedies against mosquitoes
Mosquitoes are just like us – they are sensitive to fragrances. But unlike us, they can not stand the smell of cloves, basil, eucalyptus and anise.
The smells of valerian and tobacco smoke are considered deterrents. One hundred grams of camphor, evaporated above the burner, can get rid of flies and mosquitoes even in very large rooms.
In ancient times, people used a decoction of the roots of couch grass – one of the most common weeds – to repel mosquitoes and other blood-sucking insects.
You can use finely chopped fresh leaves and flowers of wild cherry and basil.
Mosquitoes also do not like the smells of cloves, basil, anise and eucalyptus. Any of these plant oils can be used for protection – just lubricate the exposed skin or drip oil in cologne (5-10 drops), as well as the source of the fire – into the fire, campfire, a candle or a heated pan. Moisten a cotton wool oil of these plants and put it on the windowsill.
Tea tree oil can also be used as repellents, and it helps from stings.
Fumigator hand made
When you run out of fluid for electrical fumigator, do not hurry to run to the store for a replacement unit. Fill the empty bottle with 100% extract (!) of eucalyptus. Mosquitoes will forget the way to your house.
Plant elder or tomatoes under the windows of your house. Bring into the room fresh branches of elder, they repel mosquitoes just like the smell of tomato leaves.
If you decide to hang out outside, boil the tea on pine or spruce cones, or throw a little dried juniper needles into the fire.
An old folk remedy for mosquitoes is Persian, Caucasian or Dalmatian daisy (pyrethrum). Dried blossoms, stems and leaves of these types of chamomile, powdered, will hit the nerve cells of insects. It is enough to put around the apartment or house a few bouquets of daisies and you will be free from the mosquito for a week.
The smell of cedar oil repels not only mosquitoes but also flies and cockroaches.
None of the insects bothers the person, if he or she washes with decoction of the roots of Artemisia. Prepare a decoction: a handful of chopped roots pour with half liter of water, bring to a boil, and leave for a while.
If you are already bitten
Itching from mosquito bite can be removed with a solution of baking soda (0.5 teaspoon per cup of water), ammonia (half water) or pale pink solution of potassium permanganate.
Places of bites can be lubricated kefir or yogurt.
Mashed fresh leaves of bird-cherry tree, plantain, parsley or mint relieve pain and itching from the bite well.
In addition, do not forget about the good old balm “asterisk”. Incidentally, he also perfectly repels mosquitoes.
Yellow color – wait!
Some fighters with flying bloodsuckers claim that mosquitoes cannot stand yellow. So, going to the cottage in the forest, the river, wear the clothes of an appropriate color scheme.
